On November 5, 2025, the international conference “Ukraine Reimagined: Investing in Renewables and Storage” was held in Berlin, organized by the European-Ukrainian Energy Agency (EUEA) in cooperation with the Secretariat of the German-Ukrainian Energy Partnership. This is one of the key platforms that brought together European investors, energy experts and Ukrainian business representatives to discuss the future of renewable energy in Ukraine.
Why is this important for Ukrainian “solar energy”?
The conference was dedicated to topical topics: investments in renewable energy sources (RES) and energy storage systems (Energy Storage Systems) as the basis of a sustainable, flexible and decentralized energy system of Ukraine. Key topics that we covered at the conference:
Energy Trends in Ukraine: Long-Term Strategy, EU Market Integration
Insurance and Risk Mitigation, Tools for Renewable Energy Projects
Energy Storage: Technologies, Regulation, Integration
Biomethane Sector and Ukraine’s Potential in Its Production and Export
Ukraine is Europe's energy partner
The event, organized by the European-Ukrainian Energy Agency (EUEA) in cooperation with the Secretariat of the German-Ukrainian Energy Partnership, was part of the 16th European-Ukrainian Energy Day. The main theme this year is investments in renewable energy sources and storage systems as the key to a sustainable, flexible and decentralized energy sector in Ukraine. Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Roman Andarak, who joined the conference online, emphasized that the development of decentralized generation and energy storage systems is a matter of national energy security. This message became the main one for the entire discussion — after all, modern energy should not only be “green”, but also independent, flexible and technologically sustainable.
Main topics of the conference
During the day, four thematic panels were held, dedicated to the most pressing issues of the energy sector of Ukraine:
Energy Trends of Ukraine
The creation of a long-term energy strategy, the integration of the Ukrainian system with the EU markets, the development of local generation and energy storage technologies were discussed. It was emphasized that solar energy remains one of the most promising areas for the industry.
Risk reduction and investor confidence
Significant attention was paid to the issue of insurance of political, military and market risks through instruments such as the Ukrainian Renewable Energy Risk Reduction Mechanism (URMM). It is important for investors to see stability and transparent rules of the game, which is what the industry is currently striving for.
Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
The panel was devoted to the technological and regulatory aspects of integrating energy storage facilities into the energy system. Energy Storage Systems are a key element of stability in the context of an increasing share of renewable generation. ETL Group is already implementing such solutions in its industrial projects in Ukraine, demonstrating how the combination of solar power plants and renewable energy sources ensures continuity of production even during outages.
Biomethane and new opportunities for export
We discussed Ukraine's potential in biomethane production and its export to EU countries. This is another area of decentralized energy that can complement the country's "green" transformation.
Conclusions after the conference
The 16th annual European-Ukrainian Energy Day in Berlin highlighted three key messages:
Investment in Ukraine's renewable energy is not a risk, but an opportunity.
European partners are ready to invest in projects that combine solar power, BESS and energy efficiency technologies.
Energy storage systems are becoming the standard.
Without them, the energy transition is impossible. EU and Ukrainian regulators are already working on agreeing on technical and tariff mechanisms for their integration.
Ukraine has the potential to become Europe's energy hub.
Sun, wind, biomass are resources that, combined with storage technologies, can provide both the domestic market and exports to the EU.
ETL Group: energy that creates the future
ETL Group consistently develops infrastructure solutions for business, combining solar power plants, energy storage installations, consumption management systems and smart automation. Participation in the international conference “Ukraine Reimagined: Investing in Renewables and Storage” confirmed the strategic position of ETL Group as a technological partner of Ukraine’s energy transition.
In his comments, Denys Kosoy emphasized that the main task of Ukrainian energy companies today is to create systems that can operate regardless of external risks and network restrictions.
“Ukraine is already forming a new energy reality. We must think not only in terms of generation categories, but in terms of business energy independence. Solar electronics with integrated storage systems is not the future, it is our answer to the present,” the CEO of ETL Group noted at the conference.”
ETL Group implements dozens of projects for industrial clients, where solar generation helps cover the needs of the enterprise, and ESS solutions ensure production continuity even during periods of accidents or peak loads.
